This task is to research a subculture and design a logo, swing tag, and t-shirt design for a new fashion label targeting its members.
The Brief:
The design was to create a horror-themed book cover for ‘The Devil’s Inn’ by Max Burgess that captured the eerie and unsettling tone of the story. The design needed to appeal to readers aged 18 to 30 while visually communicating the tension and supernatural elements central to the narrative. The challenge was to create a design that was both striking and atmospheric, drawing viewers in through mood and symbolism.
Design Concept:
I did several sketches of how the design of the book cover should represent its title, ‘The Devil’s Inn’. The book cover required a mock-up design. There was a lot of research conducted to find images reflecting horror and the story’s themes. Websites such as Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay were used to source images that matched the sketches. This included developing a similar design for the spine and back cover of the book. Adobe Photoshop was also used for background removal before creating the mock-up.
Software:

Adobe Photoshop
The backgrounds of images were removed.

Adobe InDesign
The book was assemble.
